Conversations Under Bridges

Sometimes Everybody Has To Cry

Beauty

Murder =

Murder = everything you don’t have
Murder - the nots from the haves
Murder sells top of the charts
So buy the book and get and early start
This ain’t no ditch, this is a bunker
This ain’t no fence it’s a barricade
This ain’t the news, no, it’s only wallpaper
Sharpen the picture so the fear don’t fade.

Murder = the edge of a cliff
Look down to the bottom but you can’t see it.
Murder = equality. What’s a death to you is a death to me.
I ain’t seen a murder in all of my years
but I’ve seen the mother, I’ve seen her tears.
A son, a daughter, don’t you understand,
a heartbreak, a heart ache and an empty hand.

Cameramen would be out of a job
Talking heads would wheeze and nod
Security guards would cut you some slack
You could look into the future instead of watching your back.
Murder = poverty, stealing dreams when you sleep.
The cleanest hands doing the dirty work.
Murder, murder, a head office perk.

In Jesus’ name, the sign of the cross
You can see him weep at the senseless loss
He says “sometimes I regret those 33 years,”
As the blood spilled fills his eyes with tears
Murder = opportunity, you can make a lot of money selling weaponry
Jesus said “do not kill.”
Yeah well, Jesus Christ he’s so over the hill.

Murder = the very end. Fear takes over again.
Murder = everything you don’t see done in the name of you and me.
Does God really want the fighter jets making a sound no one could forget.
Krishna, Abraham, Mohammed and Christ they’ re wondering what part of “don’t kill” we didn’t hear right.
They’re wondering what part of don’t kill we didn’t hear right.

He Feels The Earth Shaking Too

You may think when you look at that he is made of the toughest skin.
That every thing is understood, everything that didn’t really could,
that every word that fell should of stood.

You may think when you look at him that,
though you are left out, he may let you in.
That every sign is loud and clear, that everything is nothing to fear,
that every subtlety is easy to hear.

But do not be mistaken, though it’s easy to do.
He feels the earth shaking too.

You may think when you talk to him that he never loses but always wins.
That he has looked with strong eyes, that he has not been harmed by lies,
that his hands cannot be tied.
And you may wonder when you watch him leave that he ain’t hung up, no, he is not in need.
That his heart it must not bleed, that his world does not deceive,
that the fire inside him always breaths.

But do not be mistaken though it’s easy to do.
He feels the earth shaking too

Living A Dream

Black Type on a White Page

Black Type on a White Page

Take this page put it to your skin
something that strong so paper thin
Take this page and its coffee stains

Take this page and it’s bleeding ulcer
Chin full of spittle and stolen thunder
Take this page and read the riot act

Black type on a white page writes
the colour of the rage
Black type on a white page
Black type on a white page

Take this page it’s a scrap of paper
falling off of the masters table
Take this page for what it’s worth
Take this page and its idle threats
you want the last page but we’re not there yet
Take this page cause it’s going nowhere

Black type on a white page
writes the come on sells the paste
Black type on a white page
Black type on a white page
keeps the lock on the gate
Black type on a white page

Take this page it’s so overrated, a sleeper cell that’s been vacated
Take this page and all the poets lining up to get their permits
Take this page and take your fear, take the truth only you can hear
Take this page with it’s bleeding work hands

White paper and black print just enough to give you a hint
White paper and black print
White paper and black print the universal tint.
White paper and black print

Take this page and all it’s confusion
It’s puppet string collusions
Only words can draw blood like that
Sharper than a knife quicker than a cat

Black type on a white page
Writes the colour of the rage
Black type on a white page
Black type on a white page
Writes the colour of the rage
Black type on a white page
Black type on a white page
Black type on a white page

The Naked Man

The Naked Man

I’m the naked man that’s nothing new
No agenda, schedule or sweat shop shoes
No watch no direction no war game blues
I’m the naked man what ya gonna do

No one can argue with the naked man
You can’t attack, can’t even shake his hand
You can’t buy him off cause you don’t know his brand
The naked man, the naked man

I’m the naked man no bar code tattoo
No scanner, no wire, no stash of crude
No dogs, no documents, no trust no trench
I’m the naked man this is my defense

I’m the naked man right to the core
Even when I’m buried in things you once wore
Nothing to hide and for what its worth
I’m the naked man nothing worse
