About Andrew Cash
Andrew Cash is a Juno award winning Toronto singer/songwriter. Over the last twenty five years he has released a dozen records including his most recent, his first solo record in 15 years, Murder =. His critically acclaimed music has taken him on numerous tours across North America, the United Kingdom and parts of Europe. As well as co-founding the seminal Toronto post punk band L’Etranger in the early 1980’s Cash has had a successful solo career, releasing Time and Place (1988), Boomtown(1989) and Hi(1993) through Island and Universal Records. Indie alt-rock band Ursula- with Cash’s friend Jason Collett (Broken Social Scene) playing bass- came next with the release of Happy To Be Outraged. In the late 90’s Cash teamed up with his songwriting sibling Peter Cash from the Skydiggers to form The Cash Brothers. The brothers released Raceway(1999), Phonebooth Tornado (2000) before being picked up by indie roots label Rounder Records for How Was Tomorrow(2001) and a Brand New Night(2003). The duo toured extensively throughout the US, the UK and Canada with the the likes of the Jayhawks, Josh Rouse, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Nancy Griffith, The Cowboy Junkies, Blue Rodeo and The Tragically Hip’s Gordon Downie. In 2005 The Cash Brothers and the Skydiggers fulfilled a long time dream of recording together, releasing Skydiggers/Cash Brothers at the end of that year and joining forces to play a number of Canadian dates. 2008 sees Cash back on tour as a solo artist with the release of his stark new collection songs Murder =. Cash is also a regular contributor to the Toronto weekly Now Magazine.
